Record a carrier, isolate one sideband, recover phase

The same Fourier operation can succeed cleanly, overlap the DC lobe, or fail when one global carrier no longer describes the sensor. The diagnostic exposes each stage.

With R(x)=ρeⁱᴷ·ˣ, the −K lobe contains O up to the known reference factor. The +K lobe contains its conjugate.

Failure has a visible cause.

C(x)=A(x)/2 · cos(K·x − φ(x))

A crop that touches DC mixes terms. A depth-dependent carrier smears the sideband, so a single recentering frequency cannot recover every depth.
