Symbolic Unfolded

A Ruby algebra workbench that searches for a symbolic route through an expression, then attaches evidence to the answer. Substitutions, identities and integration by parts sit alongside residues, exact arithmetic and vector calculus, with expression trees exposing the structure.

  1. ƒ

    Read the structure

Parse an expression into a tree with explicit arithmetic domains.

  2. ∫

    Find a route

Try transformations, rational decomposition and integration strategies.

  3. ∂

    Check the answer

Differentiate candidate integrals and inspect symbolic or sampled verification.

  4. ∮

    Change the domain

Explore residues and other methods when elementary manipulations are insufficient.

A rule-based symbolic engine with inspectable evidence, rather than a complete Risch implementation.

The integration trace exposes candidate strategies, structural tests, chosen route and verification evidence in one view.

Earlier interface: the tree panel switches between the node diagram and the text view for sin(x)·e^cos(x), x·arctan(x) and their integrals. The text view marks each branch [L] or [R]. This build printed the x·arctan(x) result line without the parentheses its tree contains.
Interval branch-and-bound keeps the proof object, search cells and certified minimum visible beside the result.
